Cecil Young Sr

April 15, 1927 — February 14, 2012

Cecil Young Sr., 84, was reunited with the love of his life, Magnolia "Maggie," on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 2012. He died at his residence in Rush.

He was born April 15, 1927, in Boyd County, a son of the late Noah K. "Buck" Young and Elizabeth Hamilton Young.

He was a retired skilled brick grader for 20-plus years with Big Run Coal and Clay Co. and as a carpenter with Castle-Columbia Showcase. Mr. Young was of the Baptist faith and a member of Carpenters Local 472.

Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Noah Young; and three brothers, Everett, James and Bill Young.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Cecil (Bobbie Jean) Young Jr. and William "Bill" (Linda Kay) Young, all of Catlettsburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Ruby (David) Patrick of Ashland; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Young of Catlettsburg; an adopted brother, Johnny (Teresa) Young of Rush; eight grandchildren, Paula (Ronnie) Jackson, Timothy Young, Missy (Keith) Griffith, Michelle (Thomas) McCoy, Stephen Young, Christy Young, Paul (Saprinta) Patrick and Tom Allen Patrick; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews and friends; and a dog, Bear, whom he cherished after his wife's passing.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the members of Fresenius Dialysis Clinic of Grayson, Amedisys Home Health, MTS Transport and William Short, M.D. Cecil grew to love and cherish each of your friendships.

The funeral will be at noon Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland by Brother Stan Williams. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland, where he will be laid to rest beside his loving wife of 61 years.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Feb. 16, 2012, at the funeral home.

Cecil's grandsons will honor him as pallbearers.
