Christopher Cantrell (1989-2009)
Christopher "Guy" Cantrell, 20 of Rush, Ky., stands in the presence of his Savior after his passing on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, in King's Daughters Medical Center.
Chris was born March 26, 1989, in Ashland, Ky., the son of Carol Hardeman Cantrell, stepfather Brian Brown of Rush and Michael Cantrell of Westwood, Ky.
Chris was an exceptionally bright young man who set high expectations for himself, at the age of 16 graduating with high honors from Fairview High School Class of 2005. He was a Thundering Herd fan. He accepted Christ at the age of 11 and was a member of Mount Zion Freewill Baptist Church.
Along with his parents, he is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Jeanetta Cantrell of Westwood; his maternal grandmother, Joyce Hardeman of Ashland and Mammy and Papaw Brown; a brother, Brantley Snider of Flatwoods; a sister, Lauren Cantrell of Rush; two sisters by marriage, Samantha Brown and Sydney Brown, both of Rush; his special nephew and friend, Bentley Green; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved Chris dearly and will miss him deeply.
Preceding him in death are Chris' grandfathers, George Hardeman and Clyde Cantrell.
A funeral service of remembrance will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2009, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg. Pastor Steve Stapleton will offer words of comfort and reassurance, with a personal eulogy by the Rev. Paul Cox. Final rest will follow a committal at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
