Clara Criner (1927-2009)
Clara Mae Short Criner, 81, of Medway, Ohio, formerly of Catlettsburg, passed away Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, in Hospice of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.
Mrs. Criner was born Nov. 19, 1927, in Catlettsburg, Ky., a daughter of the late Edgar and Mabel Bentley Short. She was a homemaker.
Sadly left behind are her husband of 61 years, James E. Criner; two sons, Roger Lee Criner and his wife, Geri, of Madison, N.C., and James Thomas Criner of Medway; two daughters, Carrie Victoria Criner of Dover, Del., and Maria Paulette Tiggs of St. Louis, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Betty Ruth Watts and Katherine Eileen Castle.
A funeral service in fond remembrance will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg. Pastor Richard Mallory will officiate. Final rest will follow a committal at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland, Ky.
Those wishing to call on the Criner family may do so after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
