David McPeek, 62, of Ashland, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
He was born Oct. 26, 1950, in Ashland, the son of the late Roy and Evelyn McPeek.
David was a graduate of Ashland High School, retired from the Ashland Coke Plant and McPeek Custom Pools. He was a member of the American Legion Post 76 and the Eagles Club. David was the rock of this family, the caregiver, the go-to man in times of trouble, always taking care of others before thinking of himself. He took the weight of the family on his shoulders. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Amy McPeek; brother Don McPeek; and niece Melissa McPeek Martin.
Survivors include his wife, Jane McKenzie McPeek; one brother, Lee McPeek of Ashland; a granddaughter, Jordan Fannin of Rush; one grandson, Michael Miller of Elizabethtown; nephews Matt (Lynn) McPeek of Boyd County and Jason (Malikca) McPeek of Berea and their children, Zachary and Haven; and nephew Bruce Martin of Garner, N.C.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013, at Miller Funeral Home by the Rev. Raymond Stephens. Burial will follow at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends after 11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Hospice 1480 Carter Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
