David Stewart (1949-2009)
David E. Stewart, 60, of Catlettsburg, departed the midst of family to join his Heavenly Father after passing Sunday, April 26, 2009, from King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
Mr. Stewart was a son of the late Teddy Nick Stewart and Betty Jane Stambaugh Stewart, born Jan. 23, 1949, in Ashland. He was the owner operator of Stewart's Fishing Lake and an avid fisherman, who enjoyed poker and ponies. David was well known and liked throughout our community, a friend and a good family man.
Sadly left behind is a loving family including his wife of 31 years, Myra Fannin Stewart; two sons, Timbo (Wilma) Stewart of Wayne, W.Va., and Charles (Patty) Bias of Houston, Texas; four daughters, Amy Stewart of Catlettsburg, Jackie Laney of Rush, Ky., Angela (James) Nelson of Huntington, W.Va., and Joanna (Gary) Roten of Boyd County, Ky; two brothers, Darrell (Shelly) Stewart and Teddy Stewart, all of Catlettsburg; six sisters, Sue (Ron) Chandler of Kenova, W.Va., Mary Jane Salyers of Catlettsburg, Connie (Rube) Shannon of Rush, Ky., Bonnie Stewart of Jacksonville, Fla., Ithel (Chuck) Minton of Columbus, Ohio, and Brenda Adkins of Kenova; 14 grandchildren, Brandon, Joey, Brittany, Katie, Christina, Sarah, Tiffany, Tristan, Trinnity, Cortney, Mara Sue, Tatianna, Danyella, and Trevor; one adored great-grandson, Kellen; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. David's family all rejoice in the assurance of his salvation through Christ endless love and grace.
Preceding him in death are a brother, Larry Stewart; a brother-in-law, Doodle Salyers; and his fishin' buddy and best friend, Frank Powell.
Services in remembrance of Mr. Stewart will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at the Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. A message of hope and inspiration will be offered by Pastor Willie May. Final rest will follow a committal at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Casket bearers will be Kenny Daniels, Benny Rice, Mark Potter, Joe Hammond, Robbie Short and Smokie Crisp. Honorary bearers will be Keith Layne and Randy Mosley.
Those wishing to call on the Stewart family may do so between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
