Jean Stigler (1930-2010)
Delores Jean Shropshire Stigler, 79, of Catlettsburg, went home to be with the Lord on Monday morning, Jan. 18, 2010, at her residence.
Mrs. Stigler was born June 4, 1930, in Prestonsburg, Ky., daughter of the late Luscious A. "Sonny" and Katherine Mellon Shropshire. She attended Thomas R. Brown High School and was a member of Catlettsburg United Methodist Church. Jean loved flowers and most of all her furry friend, "Babe the cat" Stigler.
She leaves behind a nephew, John M. Stigler and his wife, Belinda, of Ironton, Ohio, several cousins and many faithful friends .
Her loving husband of 55 years, Frank Stigler, passed away in 2003. Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Connie Lee Stigler, and a brother, Tommy Goodin.
A funeral service for Mrs. Jean Stigler will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg. Pastor Steve Mays will officiate the service. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland, Ky.
Visitation for family and friends will be after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
The Stigler family graciously requests contributions be made in Jean's memory to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
