Donald Ray McKenzie, 70, of Durbin Road in Catlettsburg, passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at his home.
Mr. McKenzie was born Aug. 30, 1941, in Johnson County, the son of the late Raymond and Sally Slone McKenzie. Don graduated from Flat Gap High School and was a retired truck driver with Ashland Oil. He enjoyed bass fishing, watching Nascar races and TV, but most of all he loved his family and time spent with them. He was of the Christian faith.
Don leaves behind his adoring wife of 49 years, Montella "Monnie" Vest McKenzie; their children, Karen Taylor (James) of Temple, Texas, Donny McKenzie (Brenda) and Lora Cordle (Shawn), both of Ashland; grandchildren, Amanda Clayton, Aaron McKenzie, Megan Banks and Emma Cordle; great-grandchildren, Kadence Clayton, Kameron Clayton, Tristan Banks, Gracie Banks and Brayden McKenzie; and special family member, Johnny McKenzie.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Visiting hours are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Community Hospice, 1480 Carter Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101.
