Doris Clare (1945-2008)
Doris Clare, 62, of Ashland died Friday, July 4, 2008, at her residence. She was born Oct. 29, 1945, in Ceredo-Kenova, W.Va., the daughter of the late William and Alta Mae Jasper Smith. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the Mistletoe Chapter Order of the Eastern Star 144, the American Legion Post 76, the White Shrine and was a graduate of the Citizens Academy. She was retired from Cardinal in the managing department.
She also was preceded in death by one sister, Emma Pauline Keeton.
Survivors include one son, Jim Clare of Knoxville, Tenn.; one brother, William Allen Smith of Louisville; three sisters, Barbara Jane Erickson of Russellville, Ohio, Patricia Thompson of Morehead and Mary Ruth O'Neal of Ashland; and two grandchildren, James Matthew Clare and Benjamin Clare.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Steen Funeral Home, Central Avenue Chapel, with the Rev. Larry Sivis officiating. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
