Dorothy Jean "Dot" Wheeler Wellman, 70, of Catlettsburg, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at her home.

Mrs. Wellman was born Aug. 7, 1941, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Otis and Norma Lee Chandler Wheeler.

Dot retired as general manager of Chili Willi's Mexican Cantina after 26 years of service. She was a member of the Boyd County Democratic Women's Club and Second Baptist Church, where she was active in Women on Mission. She was a former member of Order of Eastern Star. She loved cooking and her Facebook friends, but most of all she loved her family.

Dot is survived by her husband of 47 years, Donald Wellman; daughters Marilyn Wellman Serrano and her husband, Jorge, of Catlettsburg and Melissa Dawn Wellman Stephens and her husband, Brook, of Fort Meyers, Fla.; grandchildren Brandon (Rebecca) Serrano of Lexington, Chase (Samantha) Serrano of Catlettsburg and McKenziee Stephens and Madison Stephens, both of Fort Meyers; a brother, Roger Lyndon (Debbie) Wheeler of Cannonsburg; several nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wellman will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at Second Baptist Church on Williams Avenue in Ashland. Brother Eddie Caudill will officiate and Pastor Charles Allen will assist. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.

Those wishing to call on the Wellman family may do so from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.

Casket bearers will be Jorge Serrano, Brook Stephens, Brandon Serrano, Chase Serrano, Roger Wheeler II and Ben Clair.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 4950 Williams Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
