Edward Alley

Edward Lee "Eddie" Alley, 77, of Alley Branch, Catlettsburg, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 31, 2012, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

Mr. Alley was born April 3, 1934, in Boyd County, a son of the late Joe and Wanda Boyd Alley. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Jenny Hullett Alley, in 1979.

Eddie served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a retired survey rodman with Ohio Operating Engineers. He loved the outdoors especially chopping wood, and was a member of Hyland Heights Missionary Baptist Church.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Garnet Hatfield Alley; sons Roger Alley of St. Robert, Mo., Eugene Patterson and wife Janet of Jackson, Mich., and Dean Patterson and wife Karen of Parma, Mich.; daughters Tressia Highhouse of Douglasville, Ga., Brenda Hoffman and husband Carroll of Columbus, Ohio, and Renaté Patterson and life partner Marvin Turner of Catlettsburg; a brother, Daniel Alley (Carolyn) of Catlettsburg; and many good friends, nieces, nephews and neighbors.

Also preceding him in death was a sister, Phyllis Robinette.

Funeral services for Mr. Alley will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Hyland Heights Missionary Baptist Church in Catlettsburg. Pastor Jeff Ferguson will bring a message of comfort. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.

Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg and an hour before services at the church.
