CATLETTSBURG - Emma Gussler Brown, 92, of Catlettsburg, now joyously reunited with husband, Jack, was called home on Thursday, July 25, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

Mrs. Brown was born Sept. 16, 1920, in Boyd County, a daughter of the late James and Alma Griffith Gussler. Her husband of 72 years, Jack Brown Sr., preceeded her in death on June 1, 2013.

Emma retired from the Boyd County Board of Education where she served as a special needs assistant. Mrs. Brown was well known and sought after for her cake decorating abilities. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Willard Gussler, Cecil Gussler and Fred Gussler; and sister Madge Frazier.

Surviving are her children, son Jack Brown and his wife, Kay, of Catlettsburg; daughters Colleen Adkins and her husband, Marvin, of Greenup, and Louise Green of Catlettsburg. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Don Franklin Johnson Jr. (Marissa), Velvet Brown Childers (Derek), David Keith Johnson, Marvin A. Adkins (Kristen), Jack Edward Adkins (Aimee) and James David Brown (Beth); and eight great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Johnson, Alisa Brown, Gary Brown, Emmeline Adkins, Wyatt Adkins, Walker Adkins, Jackson Childer and Katie Childers.

The funeral service for Mrs. Brown will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Words of comfort will be offered by Pastors Randy Biggs and James Webster. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.

Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
