Frank Duvall

November 2, 1929 — April 10, 2009

Frank Duvall (1929-2009)
Frank V. Duvall, 79, of Catlettsburg, rests peacefully with his Savior following his passing early Friday morning, April 10, 2009, in Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods.
Mr. Duvall was a son of the late Rev. Jay and Gussie Chaffins Duvall, born Nov. 2, 1929, in Boyd County. His wife of 49 years, Phyllis Floyd Duvall, preceded him in death in 2006. Frank served our great nation honorably with the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1957 aboard the USS Alshain and USS Muliphen and at Naval Air Station Quonset Point during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired driver for General Concrete and a member of Catlettsburg Freewill Baptist Church.
Frank was a kind and loving man, even more deeply once he came to know the Lord. After the death of his son-in-law, he devoted all his time to his grandsons, becoming a father figure to them. He enjoyed playing jokes and making people laugh, watching football and old westerns.
Surviving is a loving family including an only daughter, Tonya Chapman; and two grandsons, whom he adored, Zachary Chapman and Jacob Chapman.
Also preceding him in death were two brothers, James Duvall and T. Jay Duvall; two sisters, Ida Maxine Duvall and Mary Ruth Ferguson; and a son-in-law, David Chapman.
A service in memory of Frank Duvall will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday April 14, 2009, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg. Pastor Roger Branham will offer a message of comfort and inspiration. Special music will be by family members Pat Branham and Kathy Howard. Final rest will follow a committal at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland, with military graveside rites.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
