Franklin Short, 64, of Ashland, Ky., died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Mr. Short was born Nov. 22, 1943, in Boyd County, Ky., a son of the late Thurman and Frances Lee Short.
He was a retired laborer with the city of Ashland.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Rice Short of Ashland; two sons and daughters-in-law, Franklin Jr. (Tina) Short and Daniel Ray (Michelle) Short, all of Ashland; two daughters and a son-in-law, Heavenly "Penny" (Paul) Abrams and Melissa Gehringer, all of Ashland; five grandchildren, Pokey (Amanda) Abrams, Brandon (Samantha) Abrams, Heather and Daniel Gehringer and Tiffany Short; a great-granddaughter, Lakin McKenzie Abrams; two brothers, Thurman Clyde Short and Gip Short, both of Ashland; and two sisters, Jeanette Short and Wilma Short, both of Greenup County, Ky.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland by Pastor James Webster. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at the funeral home.
