Hazel Ramsdell (1923-2008)
Hazel Geyer Ramsdell of Ashland rests peacefully with the Lord following her passing Thursday afternoon, Dec. 25, 2008, from Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Mrs. Ramsdell was 85 years of age, the daughter of the late Henry and Allene Beam Geyer, born Oct. 31, 1923, at Ashland. Also preceding her in death was her husband, William F. Ramsdell, in 2007; a sister, Gladys L. Gabbard; and a grandson, Peter John Sexton.
Hazel was a faithful member of Sandy City Freewill Baptist Church for 71 years, having taught Bible school and started the first Ladies Auxiliary. Her first love was God's work. She was an LPN at Elmwood Village Nursing Home, a Girl Scout leader and a Blazer band parent.
Sadly left behind is a son, William F. Ramsdell II, and his wife, Wilda, of Ashland; a daughter, Pamela Webster of Ashland; two brothers, James A. Geyer of Ashland and Henry Geyer of Catlettsburg; two sisters, Betty Staten and Mary Ann Paul, both of Ashland; five grandchildren, Sean Sexton, Aaron Sexton, Bryan Ramsdell, Melanie Roberts and April Adkins; and six blessed great-grandchildren.
A funeral service of remembrance will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg. Pastors Bob Chaffin, Jerry Chapman and Wayne McDonald will deliver an uplifting message of hope and faith with personal eulogies. Committal will follow at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
The Ramsdell family will receive guests from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
