Helen Leas (1917-2010)
Helen Leas, 92, of Franklin, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, in Atrium Medical Center.
She was born June 16, 1917, in Ashland, Ky., to Henry Clay and Emma Louise (Daggett) Strait. She was a teacher at Catlettsburg High School for two years. Helen was very active at Normal and Bellefonte Presbyterian churches in Ashland and former church organist.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold M. Leas; brothers Eugene and Henry Strait Jr.; and a sister, Emma Jo Crace.
Helen is survived by a brother, Richard (Harriet) Strait of Franklin, and a sister, Dorothy S. Nestor of Ashland.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg. A celebration of life service will be at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Lamar Ferrell. Interment will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
