James Darnell

James R. Darnell, 83, of Ashland, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 24, 2012, in Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio.
He was born Aug. 31, 1928, in Mt. Sterling, the son of the late Harry and Arlene Scott Darnell.
He was retired from Armco Steel, a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War and a member of the Johnson Memorial Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Elizabeth White Darnell; a step-son, James L. White and wife, Elizabeth G. of Santa Monica Calif.; two sisters, Sarah Darnell and Jerri Darnell of Mt. Sterling; three brothers, Michael Darnell, Jack Darnell and Claude Darnell of Mt. Sterling; three grandchildren, O. Monee Fields-White, James L. White II and wife, Anna and Martina E. White; one great-grandchild, Amaya M. White; a nephew, Edmond Darnell; and nieces Darlene Darnell, Deidre Darnell, Janet Thomas and Paula Daugherty.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland by Pastor Darrell Williams. Entombment will follow at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
