James Farley

James E. Farley, 58, of Daniels Court, Catlettsburg, passed away Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, in Community Hospice Care Center.

Mr. Farley was born Sept. 14, 1951, in Fedscreek, Ky., a son of the late Lassie June Smith and Lewis Farley Jr.

Surviving are James' loving wife of 38 years, Sylvia Lynn Ferrell Farley; two loving sons, James E. Farley Jr. and Delbert E. Farley, and a special daughter-in-law, Jackie Farley of Catlettsburg, Ky.; a loving daughter, Yvonne Adams of Phelps, Ky.; seven wonderful grandchildren - three grandsons, Zachary and Ryan Farley of Catlettsburg and Dakota Adams of Phelps; four granddaughters, Machaela and Andrea Farley of Catlettsburg and Jessica and Savanaha Adams of Phelps; a brother, Bobby Jack Farley (Ruth) of Pikeville, Ky.; and two sisters, Gerlynn and Tammy Farley of North Carolina.

Also preceding him in death were a sister, Yvonne Farley, and a brother, Raymond Farley Sr.

James was a disabled coal miner for more than 17 years, a veteran stationed in Korea for 3 1a��2 years, a member of the Elks Club of Catlettsburg for 14 years and the American Legion of Kenova, W.Va., for 13 years and an active member of DAV Chapter 169 of Betsy Layne, Ky. James loved to fish and spend time with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by friends and family.

A funeral service honoring James E. Farley will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Pastor Mike Gullett will offer comforting words. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland, with military rites by American Legion Post 93 of Kenova.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Casket bearers will be Larry Norman, Delbert Farley, James Farley Jr., Steve Barrett, Frank Criswell and J.R. Castle.

Honorary casket bearers will be Zachary Farley, Ron Hunt, Brian Allie, Chris Dollin, Kevin Felty, Toby Sparks, Scott Powell, Chris Cox and Bobby Farley.
