John Hicks

John Russell Hicks, 49, of Catlettsburg, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

Mr. Hicks was born Sept. 9, 1963, in Ashland, a son of Elizabeth "Betsy" Russell Hicks of Catlettsburg and the late Jolly J. Hicks. Russell was a self-employed contractor and attended Sandy City Freewill Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt, fish and travel.

Also surviving are Russell's loving wife, Dana Marie Purscelley Hicks; two children, Zane Purscelley and John Hicks, both at home; and two brothers, J.J. Hicks (Kathy) and Paul K. Hicks (Christina), all of Catlettsburg.

Funeral services for Mr. Hicks will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Neal Funeral Home in Catlettsburg. Words of comfort will be offered by Pastor Bob Chaffins and Pastor Jason Crum. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
