Lewis Bussey

January 4, 1932 — September 20, 2012

Lewis Randall Bussey, 80, of Ashland, passed away on Sept. 20, 2012, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

He was born Jan. 4, 1932, in Louisa, the son of the late L.R. and Virginia Stringfellow Bussey.

He was a member of Second Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Virginia Nell Hughes Bussey; sons, Randy and Gwen Bussey of Greenup, and Mark and Phyllis Bussey of Ashland; daughter, Sally and Thomas Jarvis of Grayson; grandchildren, Amanda Bussey, Rayna Little and Scott Bussey and his daughter, Nyomy Bussey; sisters, Ivry Bussey Ward of Huntington and Ann Bussey Hammond of Catlettsburg.

Lewis was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a carman at the C&O Railroad. He was an avid fisherman and an excellent woodworker.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Second Baptist Church, where he will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Second Baptist Church Special Lift Fund, in his name.
