Marie Parker Reeves (1927-2010)
Marie Parker Reeves, 82, of Ashland, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland following an extended illness.
She was born May 24, 1927, in Blaine, a daughter of the late Miniard and Linda Ellen Ramey Parker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ossie R. Reeves Sr.; two infant sons, William Lawrence and Larry Allen; three brothers, Hager Lee, James (Bob) William and Wendall B. Parker; a sister, Mary Lemaster; and a daughter-in-law, Edith Noreen Tuori Reeves.
She was a homemaker, loving wife and mother and attended Crum Chapel Church on Blackburn Avenue.
Siblings surviving are sisters Pauline Seagraves, Elizabeth Harris of Johnson County and Tora Boggs of Delaware, Ohio; and two brothers, J.T. and Junior Parker, also of Johnson County.
She is survived by five sons, Ossie R. (Jetta) Reeves Jr. of Durbin, Ky., and George M., Charles Robert, Roger Dale and Rick Alden Reeves of Ashland; and three daughters, Donna Gail (Buddy) Crow of Camden, Ohio, Sandra Lynn Reeves of Ashland and Brenda Sue (Mikel) Hornsby of Catlettsburg. Also surviving are seven grandsons, James Scott, Timothy Matthew, Terry Francis, Adam W. (Kelly) Crow, Ricky Tyler, Robbie Reeves and Alex Hornsby; three granddaughters, Cassie and Amanda Clark and Elizabeth Reeves; and four stepgrandchildren, Callie, Matthew, Jamie and Justin Hornsby. She also had eight great-grandchildren, Jacob, Ashley, T.J., Austin, Ryan, Riley, Jaden and Hanna. She will also be missed by special friends and family Robin Cline Reeves, Malene Hayes Reeves and nephew Raymond (Bucky) Reeves.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland with the Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
