Mary Josephine Foley - 1925-2008
Mrs. Mary Josephine Foley, 82, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 4, 2008, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. She was a resident of Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility.
Mrs. Foley was born Aug. 16, 1925, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Eugene and Julia Henley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Luther J. Foley, in 1998 and her eldest son, John E. Foley, in 2001.
Mary Foley was a devoted member of Johnson Memorial CME Church in Ashland, where she formerly served as superintendent of the Sunday school and was a former Sunday school teacher, choir member and treasurer. Mrs. Foley was a faithful member of Bethune Homemakers for many enjoyable years.
Surviving are her two remaining sons, Jerry (Marscha) Foley and Jim (Marty) Foley; and her daughters, Dawn (Greg) Paige and Denise (Terry) Bigbee. Grandchildren are Amber Foley, J.J. Foley, Brian Foley, Terrell Foley, Jim Foley Jr., Ryan Ford and Serena Ford and Sean, Patrick and Sarah Paige.
Mrs. Foley leaves behind a sister, Edith Parrish, and a brother, Frank Cooper. Also surviving is her loving and devoted eldest sister, Mrs. Christine Kinney.
The family would like to thank Jerry and Marscha Foley and Jim Foley Sr. for their loving care and attention to Mrs. Foley during her long illness.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 at Steen Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel by the Rev. Greg Paige of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas.
Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
