Mary Pauline Reed, 86, of Ashland, passed away Thursday morning, Oct. 25, 2012, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born June 11, 1926, in Ashland, a daughter of the late John E. Howard Sr. and America Pheoder Howard. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. Reed, in 1986 and a son, Karl Von Schmauch.
Pauline was a member of Gospel Tabernacle in Ashland, a 1944 graduate of Ashland High School and worked alongside her husband at Reed's Photo, formerly on Bath Avenue. Above all, she was a loving and devoted homemaker.
Those left to cherish her memory include daughters Joyce Pennington of Ashland, Roberta (Chris) Smith of Williamsburg and Johnnie Cordle Brock of Ashland; sons James H. (Susan) Reed of Ashland and Jack E. (Leticia) Reed of Florence; a brother, John E. Howard Jr. of Nevada; a very special friend to Pauline and the family, Charles Reliford Sr.; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Acy Gibson. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Friends may call after noon Saturday at the funeral home.
