Modest Fannin

August 3, 1917 — May 31, 2012

Modest G. Fannin, 94, of Ashland, died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at his residence.

He was born on Aug. 3, 1917, in Carter County, the son of the late Dewitt and Bessie Fannin.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in WWII, retired from the Painters Local and a member of Princess Chapel.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Garnet Fannin.

Survivors include a daughter, Ramona Gail Fannin of Sanford Fla.; a son, Bernard Fannin and wife, Louise of Ashland; two grandchildren, Vicki Belt and Susan Vogel; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland, by the Rev. Clell Lucas. Burial to follow in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland.
