Myrtle Sammons Davis - 1908-2009
Myrtle M. Sammons Davis, 100, of Rush, Ky., died Friday evening, Jan. 23, 2009, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital following an extended illness.
Myrtle was born Sept. 7, 1908, in Martin County, Ky., a daughter of the late Joseph and Maggie Hanners Sammons.
Myrtle was of the United Baptist faith. She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband, Virgil L. Davis, in 1959; a daughter, Lucille Berry; and seven brothers and sisters.
Surviving are sons Ollie R. Davis of Rush and Joseph Virgil Davis of Argillite, Ky.; and three daughters, Allene Davis of Rush, Beulah Oney of Summit, Ky., and Myrtle Faye Watts of Lenore, W.Va. Myrtle is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 27 at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by Elder Frank Blevins. Interment was in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
