Norma Wheeler

Norma Jean Wheeler, 81, of Ashland, died Saturday, May 26, 2012, in King's Daughters Medical Center.

She was born on April 23, 1931, in Huntington, W.Va., the daughter of the late William Alonzo and LuElla LeGrand Roberts. She was a retired nursing assistant and attended New Hope Church of God.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Gary Delano Wheeler; son, Benjamine Donald Rice; daughter, Teresa Leigh Hutchinson; five sisters, Sarah Adalene Roberts, Ruth Collins, Irene Roberts, Betty Lou Turley and Anna Carolyn Roberts; three brothers, Earl Roberts, William Roberts Jr. and Richard Lee Roberts.

She is survived by a son, Gary Jesse Wheeler of Ashland; two daughters, Darlene Rice Mullins of Grayson and Wanda Sue Wheeler Litteral of Ashland; a step-daughter, Cheryl Ann Wheeler McKinnon of Rush; sister, Evelyn Ward of Palm Beach, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services and burial will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012, in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland, with Pastor Ed Richardson and Pastor Charlie Stewart officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland.
