Opal Reeves (1919-2008)
Opal Sparks Reeves, 88, surrounded by her loving family, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at her home in Ashland.
Mrs. Reeves was born Oct. 20, 1919, in Carter County, Ky., the daughter of the late Bert and Myrtle Hall Sparks. Her husband, Everett "Bo" Reeves, preceded her in death in 1984.
Opal's love of family was shown by the tender care and devotion given to them. She was a member of Skyline Baptist Church.
Bo and Opal's home was blessed with seven children, Paul Reeves of Ashland, James Reeves and his wife, Jennifer, of Ironton, Rickey Reeves and Glenna Shumway of Ashland, Michael Reeves and his wife, Donna Gail, of Ashland, Everett Reeves Jr. and his wife, Carolyn, of Ironton, Shirley Stewart and her husband, Douglas, and Betty Boggs, all of Ashland; a sister, Elaine Houck of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were three brothers, Arnold Sparks, Virgil Sparks and Lonnie Sparks; and a sister, Ruby Sparks.
A funeral service in memory of Opal Reeves will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Words of comfort and inspiration will be offered by the Rev. Bruce Pickard. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
