Pearl Kelley (1916 - 2009)
Pearl Fannin Kelley of 39th Street in Ashland went home to be with the Lord Wednesday evening, Aug. 12, 2009, after her passing from Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Mrs. Kelley was 93 years of age, born Jan. 21, 1916, in Lawrence County, Ky., a daughter of the late Laurentes Coster and Elizabeth Bryan Fannin.
Pearl's love of family made their time spent together unforgettable and memorable. She spent her time quilting, gardening, sewing, keeping up with politics, reading and working crossword puzzles. She was a faithful member of Buchanan Chapel since 1938, where she was a member of the Ladies Missionary Society.
Her husband Joseph Kelley, preceded her in death in 1997. They were married June 3, 1936, spending 61 wonderful years together. Their home was blessed with four children, Iris (Thomas) Bryan, and Patricia (Elbert) Castle, all of Catlettsburg, and Robert (Charlene) Kelley and Sue (Donald) Yates, all of Ashland; six grandchildren, Cheryl (Mike) Ratcliff, Brenda Bryan, Tom (Tina) Bryan, Deborah (Tim) Hibbard, Don (Lynette) Yates, and Chris (Tammy) Yates; seven great-grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Eerenberg, Joseph Diamond, Jacob Bryan, Connor Hibbard, Kaden Rogers, Kyler Yates, Caroline Yates; and two great-great-grandchildren, Kaden Neese, Isabella Eerenberg.
Also preceding her in death are two sisters, Golda Bennett and Alta Opell.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at the Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg. Rev. Pete Miller will bring a message of comfort, with a personal eulogy given by Pastor David Kerr. Committal will be Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Those wishing to call on the family may do so from 11 a.m. to service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the Pearl Kelley family request donations be made in her memory to King's Daughters & Sons Assisted Living, 1100 Bath Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101, her home for the past two years.
