Rose Byrd

Rose Ann Giglia Byrd, 73, of Ashland, passed away peacefully on Jan. 4, 2011, with family by her side in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland following an extended illness.

She was born May 1, 1937, in New York to the late Joseph and Josephine Giglia. Her husband, Ray Byrd of Ashland, survives.

In addition to her parents, Rose was predeceased by two brothers, Sam Giglia and Joseph Giglia; a sister, Marie G. Sullivan; and a niece, Lisa Gail Giglia.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by children Michael Ray Byrd (Tammy) of Suffolk, Va., John Samuel Byrd (Melissa) of Winchester, Katherine Morgan (Sam) of Suffolk, Karen Stewart (Ronnie) of Rush and William Ray Price (Cindy) of Powells Point, N.C; grandchildren Leslie M. Sawyer (Nathan) and Lindsey M. Butts (Josh) of Suffolk, Kristin S. May (Scott) of Ashland, Kevin Stewart of Rush, Mindy Byrd and Joseph Byrd of Suffolk, Alexa Byrd of Winchester and Laura Price and Matthew Price of Powells Point; great-grandchildren Sam Sawyer and Audrey Sawyer of Suffolk and Cameron David May of Ashland; a brother, Al Giglia of Oceanside, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at noon Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood by Pastor Richard Gindlesperger. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial donations be made to the Community Hospice Care Center, 2330 Pollard Road, Ashland, KY 41101.

The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude for the loving care provided to Rose while at Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility and also at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland
