ASHLAND - Roy White Jr., 82, of Ashland, passed away Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 28, 1930, in Ashland, a son of the late Roy White Sr. and Irene Robbins White. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Don White.
Roy was a member of Second Baptist Church and a Kentucky colonel. He was a 1948 graduate of Ashland High School and a 1978 graduate of the King's Daughters Hospital School of Radiology. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving honorably for 26 years and later retired from Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital as a radiology technician. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Shirley Phillips White of Ashland; sons Roy E. White of Ashland, Gordon Ramey II and James G. Ramey, both of Huntington; daughters Tami L. Frazier of Flatwoods and Shirl A. Whisman and Cathy A. Ramey, both of Huntington; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by Pastor Ed Caudill. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at the funeral home.
