She was born Aug. 29, 1944, in Kermit, W.Va., a daughter of the late Thomas York Sr. and Betsie Justice York.
Sarah was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a prayer warrior for her Lord and a member of First Macedonia Church.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Wayne Newland; brothers Thomas York Jr. and Calvin York; and sisters Virginia York, Nada Baisden and Billie Owens.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Curtis Sharp and his wife, Beth, and James Dale Sharp and his fianceé, Aubrey, all of Catlettsburg; two precious granddaughters, Destanie Clark Sharp and Christie Sharp of Catlettsburg; her brother, Don York, and his wife, Sue, of Franklin Furnace, Ohio; her sister, Lillian Giomi, and her husband, Doug, of Columbus, Ohio; and many friends and family.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2013, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital, c/o Kentucky Farmers Bank, 2500 Broadway St., Catlettsburg, KY 41129.
