Sue McDowell, 66, of Ashland, Ky., died Wednesday, May 5, 2010, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
She was born Nov. 2, 1943, in Olive Hill, Ky., a daughter of the late Wade Edward McDowell Sr. and Hettie Carpenter McDowell.
She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Elliott; a grandson, John L. Blair III; and two brothers, Charles McDowell and Wade Edward McDowell Jr.
Surviving are a son, Darrell Ray "Shortie" McDowell of Lexington, Ky.; a daughter, Janet Blair of Ashland; seven grandchildren, Michael Brandon Blair, Charles and Paul Jenkins, Pam Sagley, Doug Martin, Christopher Kirk and Michael Ray McDowell; three great-grandchidren; two brothers, Ronald McDowell and Jonathan McDowell, both of Manchester, Ky.; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Bobbie Jean (Cecil Jr.) Young of Catlettsburg, Ky., Julie (Tim) Meeks of Bradenton, Fla., and Delores Miles of Rush, Ky.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today, May 7, 2010, at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Phil Haney. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.
