Willie Allen

Willie Blair Allen, 90, of Ashland, peacefully passed away Friday, October 20, 2017 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Mrs. Allen was born March 19, 1927 in Morgan County, KY, a daughter of the late William Blair and Rae Caskey Blair Dyer. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Bill Allen, her brother Jerry Dyer, her sister Sue Hughes and a son-in-law William Hanners. Mrs. Allen was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church in Ashland. She served in several church ministries that supported the community with food and clothing and served on the church bereavement committee. Most importantly to her was her family, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be deeply missed. Survivors include her daughters Kathy Hanners, Barbara Price and husband Larry, Cheri Swimm and husband Jerry, all of Ashland, brothers Harold (Nellie) Blair of Dayton, OH, Jack (Pat) Dyer of Dayton, OH, sisters Jean Long of Ashland, Anna (Jack) Saunders of North Carolina, grandchildren Michelle (Mark) Tackett, Amanda (Jared) Boggs, Brandon (Fielden Wilmont) Swimm, Jaime McConnell, great grandchildren Travis Tackett, Landen Boggs, Kole Boggs, Brooklyn McConnell and a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Monday, October 23, 2017 at the Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel by Gary Wurts. Burial will be in the Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens. Visitation for friends and family will be Monday from 11:00am till 1:00pm at the funeral home.
